TRAVERTINE SERIES

Carved
from stone,
shaped by light

Each Travertine Series lamp is made from natural travertine, keeping the pores and veins the stone formed layer by layer. Switch it on and light drifts across the surface — no two are alike.

Natural StoneTRAVERTINE
HandcraftedHAND-FINISHED
One of a KindNO TWO ALIKE
01MATERIAL

Formed by
spring water

Travertine is a natural limestone formed as calcium carbonate settles out of spring water, layer upon layer, over a very long time. Flowing water and gas leave behind pores and banded veins — the marks travertine is known for.

Natural Pores

Left by gas bubbles and flowing water — random, and impossible to copy.

Layered Veins

Bands laid down layer by layer, a record of how the stone grew.

Soft Matte Finish

Honed to a gentle matte surface — refined, calm, never flashy.

02HISTORY

Built with it for
two thousand years

Travertine is one of the oldest building stones still in use. Its name comes from the Italian travertino, from the Latin lapis tiburtinus — “stone of Tibur”, today’s Tivoli, just outside Rome.

AD 70 – 80

The Colosseum

ROME, ITALY

Much of its outer wall is travertine from Tivoli — still standing after nearly two thousand years.

1656 – 1667

St. Peter’s Colonnade

VATICAN CITY

Bernini’s sweeping colonnade, built in travertine, embraces the square like open arms.

The Travertine Series turns this ancient stone into a lamp you can light every day.

03CRAFT

From a block of stone to a lamp

Selecting, cutting, shaping, sanding, sealing, testing — every step shapes how the finished lamp holds light. The sanding and finishing are done by hand.

01Selecting the Stone

Every block is checked for color, vein direction and density; stone with visible cracks is set aside.

02Cutting

Blocks are cut to size along the grain, saving the most beautiful face for the front.

03Shaping

Shades and bases are turned and carved to shape, keeping wall thickness and proportions precise.

04Hand Sanding

Sanded from coarse to fine, with edges and corners finished by hand for a smooth, rounded feel.

05Sealing

A stone sealer helps the surface resist water marks and stains, making it easier to care for.

06Assembly & Testing

Once wired and fitted, every lamp is powered on and checked before it is packed.

04FACTORY

Every lamp begins
on the workshop floor

These photos were taken in our own workshop: turned lamp bodies and shades, cut stone discs, and crates of pieces waiting to be sanded and assembled. Nothing staged — just how they really look.

05LIGHT

Switch it on,
and the stone speaks

Light bounces and softens between pores and curves, spreading a warm, restrained glow through the room. By day it is a piece of stone sculpture; by night, the quietest light in the room.

No two lamps are ever alike

Same design, same craft — yet every stone has its own character. The density of its pores, the flow of its veins, the depth of its color: all decided by nature. The lamp you receive will be uniquely yours.

09LAYERING

One room,
four layers of light

Good lighting rarely relies on one lamp. Designers think in layers: ambient light to fill the room, focal light to draw the eye, task light close at hand, and mood light to set the tone. Each Travertine Series lamp plays one part.

10FAQ

Good to know
before you buy

Natural stone, everyday cleaning and where to use your lamp — a few common questions, answered up front.

01Why doesn’t my lamp look exactly like the photos?

Travertine is a natural stone, and every block differs in its pores, vein direction and depth of color. The photos show one lamp from the range; yours will have a pattern all its own. That is a feature of natural material, not a flaw.

02Are the small holes in the stone defects?

No. The pores were left naturally by water and gas as the stone formed from spring deposits — they are the defining feature of travertine. We keep them intact so the stone’s natural character comes through.

03Will dust collect in the pores? How do I clean it?

Like any decorative piece, a little dust will settle over time. Brush the pores gently with a dry, soft brush or use an air blower, and wipe the surface with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid scrubbing the pores with a damp cloth.

04What color is the light?

The series uses 3000K warm white by default — a soft, warm tone made for relaxed evenings in bedrooms and living rooms.

05Can I use it in a bathroom or kitchen?

We don’t recommend it. Travertine is naturally porous, so even with a protective sealer it should be kept away from prolonged steam and standing water. Dry spaces such as bedrooms, living rooms and studies suit it best.

06Is the lamp made by hand?

The sanding and edge finishing are done by hand, working from coarse to fine, which is why every lamp feels smooth and rounded to the touch.

11CARE

A natural material,
treated with care

Travertine is warm and tactile — with a few quirks of its own. Keep these simple things in mind and it will stay beautiful, quietly keeping you company for years.

i.Everyday Cleaning

Wipe gently with a dry, soft cloth to remove dust.

ii.Avoid Acids

Vinegar, lemon juice and acidic cleaners etch the stone — please don’t use them.

iii.Keep It Dry

Avoid prolonged contact with water, and wipe up spills promptly.

iv.Mind the Surface

Travertine is relatively soft — keep sharp or hard objects from scratching it.
