Six causes of wobble, one by one
From the most common (mounting ball) to blade balance, pitch and loose wiring — check them in order and most wobble resolves itself.
Mounting ball not seated in the bracket groove
The most common cause on a newly installed fan — and the fastest to fix.
A rhythmic clicking or clacking sound, and the fan wobbles noticeably at all speeds.
The hanging ball on the downrod did not lock into the groove on the ceiling bracket — the fan swings freely instead of pivoting from a fixed point.
Turn off power and remove the canopy cover. Lift the fan slightly and re-seat the hanging ball so its groove clicks onto the raised ridge on the bracket — you should feel it lock in place. Replace the canopy.
If the fan makes a "clack-clack" noise, check this first. It takes under 5 minutes and fixes most newly installed fans.
Fan blade screws not tightened evenly
Proper screw technique is essential with wooden-blade ceiling fans.
Mild to moderate wobble, sometimes with a slight vibration hum. The fan may feel "loose" when touched.
One or more blade-to-motor screws are tighter than the others, pulling that blade closer and throwing off the balance.
Correct sequence
Install the motor housing on the ceiling first. Do not attach the blades on the ground and then lift — it risks bending the blade brackets.
Attach each blade one at a time on the ladder, in a cross pattern (opposite blades first) for balanced weight distribution.
Tighten each blade's screws to about 80% first — do not fully tighten any single blade yet.
Once all blades are mounted, go back and tighten every screw to full, using equal hand force.
Use a manual screwdriver only. Never use a power drill — it strips the soft wood threads.

Always use the metal washers (shims) included in the hardware kit, groove facing down. They protect the soft wood and prevent cracking.
Warped or bent fan blades
If wobble survives every screw check, a blade or bracket is likely bent.
Wobble persists even after re-tightening all screws. One blade may visually sit higher or lower than the others.
A blade or bracket was bent during shipping or installation. Even a 2° angle difference causes noticeable wobble.
From one fixed point on the ceiling, measure to each blade tip's outer edge. All tips should be within 3 mm of each other.
The fix depends on your blade material
Gently bend them back by hand. Hold near the motor mount and adjust the angle until all blades sit at the same height.
Wood cannot be safely bent back. A warped wooden blade must be replaced — contact support for a free replacement.
Balance issue — use the balancing kit
Your fan comes with a balancing kit (a clip and adhesive weight strips). It works on the same principle as balancing a car tire.
You've checked issues 1–3, everything looks correct, but the fan still wobbles — especially at higher speeds.
Tiny weight differences between blades create an imbalance that amplifies at speed — like a washing machine with uneven laundry.

Step by step
Clip test. Attach the clip to the trailing edge of one blade, midway along its length. Run at medium speed and note whether wobble gets better, worse, or stays the same.
Find the right blade. If wobble got worse, move the clip to the next blade. You want the blade where the clip reduces wobble the most.
Fine-tune the position. Slide the clip toward the tip, then toward the motor, testing each time. Find the sweet spot.
Apply the weight. Mark the spot, remove the clip, and stick one adhesive weight on the top surface of the blade (hidden from below).
Test again. If some wobble remains, add a second weight. Each strip = 5 g — trim with scissors for precision.
Think of it like a seesaw: add small weights until both sides are equal. Most fans balance perfectly in 10–15 minutes.
Blade angle (pitch) inconsistency
Uneven airflow points to one blade sitting at the wrong angle.
Wobble combined with uneven airflow — more breeze under one blade than the others.
Each bracket should be ~13°. If one was bent to 15–18° during handling, it pushes more air and creates drag on one side.
Hold a straight edge down from the ceiling. Rotate each blade to the same position and measure its high and low edge — all should match. Gently bend any off-angle bracket.
Swap two adjacent blades. If the wobble follows the blade, that blade/bracket is the problem. If it stays, re-check the motor mount screws.
Downrod or wiring connection loose
If the whole unit sways from the ceiling, the mount itself needs attention.
The entire fan unit sways or feels loose from the ceiling. The canopy cover may vibrate.
The downrod-to-motor screws are loose, or the ceiling bracket isn't secured to a fan-rated junction box.
Check these connection points
Check that the downrod-to-motor screws (usually 2 screws + a safety pin) are fully tightened.
Verify the ceiling bracket is secured to a fan-rated junction box (labeled "For Fan Support", UL/CUL, 50+ lbs).
If installed on a plastic or lightweight box, replace it with a fan-rated metal box.
If the canopy feels loose, gently pry the groove on the canopy base inward or outward to adjust the fit.
When reconnecting wires, match colors exactly. Connecting the wrong wires can permanently damage the motor or driver.
